Dreadful. Came for lunch at 1pm and asked for 'Presteigne trout' on the menu. Barman said the trout had 'just arrived' and was not yet available. Half an hour later I asked again. Barman said the trout was not yet gutted. I asked him why the chef could not gut it now. Surely that would take only a minute or two? Was the trout fresh or frozen? Barman said that the trout was fresh but the chef was unwilling to gut it! He didn't seem to be bothered. I took this up with the manageress upon leaving and told her I had not encountered such poor service for many many years.
